What is the difference between ball quilts, gravity quilts, granule quilts and chain quilts?
The market is full of weighted blankets today, with names like ball blankets, weighted blankets, granule blankets, and chain blankets. As a parent, you may have wondered if there is a difference between these types of blankets, and if so, what the differences are.
We will delve into these differences in this blog post, where we will describe what characterizes a natural stone quilt, a granulate quilt, a ball quilt and a chain quilt. After reading the blog post, you will hopefully be able to decide more easily which quilt is best for your little nugget.
Weighted duvets are the general term for heavy duvets.
Weighted duvets are, as mentioned in the title above, the general term for heavy duvets or also known as weighted duvets. A duvet is considered a weighted duvet if it consists of a filling that makes the duvet heavier than a normal duvet.
Whether the weight of the duvet consists of natural stones, plastic granules, chains, or something completely different, the duvets have the same purpose; to provide light pressure against the body that will promote security and relaxation, with the aim of ensuring a better and more undisturbed night's sleep.
In our range of weighted duvets , which stand out from the crowd on several different parameters, including in relation to the duvet's content. More on this later in the blog post.
The difference between the different weighted blankets on the market
Many people have the idea that a weighted blanket is just a weighted blanket, and that there is no difference between the many weighted blankets on the market. The truth is, however, as we have already briefly mentioned, that there are many different types of heavy blankets.
The most common heavy duvets consist of the following:
-
Granule blanket
- Ball quilt
- Chain quilt
- Duvet with natural filling → " See our organic weighted duvet "
Granule blanket
A granulate duvet is a weighted duvet made of granules, typically in the form of plastic or glass. Granulate has a good ability to distribute itself evenly on and around the body, and many parents appreciate that granules make far less noise than traditional ball duvets.
Ball quilt
Another type of weighted blanket is the so-called ball blanket. A ball blanket is filled with plastic balls the size of golf balls, and is therefore a blanket that takes up a lot of space.
Traditional ball blankets can tend to be quite noisy when the child moves, and are therefore often not chosen for very young children.
Chain quilt
A third and less common type of weighted blanket is the chain blanket. Like ball blankets and granule blankets, this type of blanket resembles a regular blanket, but the filling is different. The name, chain blanket, comes from the fact that small chain rings are sewn into the blanket, which help to give the blanket weight and give the blanket its beneficial effect.
Duvet with natural filling
Finally, it is worth mentioning duvets filled with natural materials such as natural stones, cherry stones, wheat kernels, grape seeds, etc. Be careful about proper washing and care if you choose a duvet with natural filling, as not all materials can withstand washing.
The weighted blanket from Lalatoto
Our weighted blanket is made of Natural Stone. The filling is specially selected for its ability to spread over the entire body and create a enveloping effect around the child. We have placed great emphasis on the filling being quiet, so that even the most sensitive child can snuggle up with the blanket.
Something special about the weighted blanket from Lalatoto is that we have made the blanket without wadding. This means that the natural stones can move freely and effectively stimulate the muscle-joint sensation, which gives the little child peace. It also allows the blanket to snuggle close and heavy on and around the child's body, and gently help the little child to drift off to sleep.
The choice of wadding also means that the duvet provides very little warmth, and it is crucial for restful sleep that the body temperature is comfortable.
All of these things combined are why we call our duvet “The Baby-Friendly Weighted Duvet,” and we are proud that our customers agree.
